Robert Shannon, Jr.
 

Robert “Bobby” Shannon, Jr. is a trial lawyer known for taking difficult cases at the last moment and achieving excellent results for clients. Bobby has tried more than 60 cases nationwide and has successfully handled billion-dollar cases. Since 2003, he has been hired into more than 100 cases as lead counsel just weeks before trial and has achieved client wins in nearly all of them.

Bobby’s experience runs the gamut of business litigation. He has handled commercial and contract disputes, product liability, mass torts and multidistrict litigation, professional liability, and other complex matters that present high exposure and significant risk to his clients.

Prior to his trial career, Bobby transferred from the active duty Air Force to the Reserve Component to attend law school. For 27 years, he served concurrently to building his trial practice, until retiring in 2017 with the rank of Major General. In his last assignment, Bobby was dual hatted as the Assistant to the Commander, 25th Air Force (Joint Base San Antonio) and Mobilization Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force (A2) for Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (Pentagon). The A2 reports to the Director of National Intelligence and Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence. 

Numerous media outlets have interviewed Bobby about his military service and trial career. These include CNN, 60 Minutes, Fox News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Christian Science Monitor.

Bobby completed the Leadership and Crisis Management Course at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is Martindale-Hubbell AV-Preeminent rated. The Atlanta Business League named Bobby to its Legends Hall of Fame.

Robert “Bobby” Shannon, Jr. has tried more than 60 cases nationwide and successfully defended sophisticated clients in complex matters exceeding $1 billion in exposure. Since 2003, he has parachuted into more than 100 cases just weeks from trial and has won or achieved desirable results in nearly all of them. Concurrent to his trial career, Bobby served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, retiring in 2017 with the rank of Major General. He is recognized in the Atlanta Business League Legends Hall of Fame.

Representative Cases
  • Hired to defend more than 100 complex or catastrophic cases as lead or trial counsel with just weeks to go before trial. Achieved clients' goals in the majority of these.
  • Appeared as trial counsel in 17 states and Puerto Rico.
  • Hired after trial began to salvage a case and minimize losses. The plaintiff sought nearly $50 million. Bobby's creativity and courtroom experience helped limit the jury award to only $7 million—a significant win for the client.
  • Won a $4 million, plaintiff-side award for a client in a coverage dispute. The jury awarded the full amount sought.
  • Hired shortly before trial to represent a company facing a $20 million demand. Ultimately the jury awarded just $1.25 million—a win for the client.
  • Won a defense verdict for a physician in Tennessee against wrongful death, malpractice, and negligence claims following laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.
  • Defended a technology company in related trials in Georgia state court against $10 million claims that the company retaliated against, libeled, and slandered two former executives. The jury awarded $840,000 total to the plaintiffs.
