V. William Scarpato, III
 

Bill Scarpato helps clients develop and implement litigation and trial strategies in complex civil disputes, including large commercial matters and merger- and securities-related litigation. Prior to joining WTO, Bill was a litigation associate in the Delaware office of an international law firm. He has second-chaired several trial proceedings and has worked with fact and expert witnesses in preparation for trial and deposition testimony. Bill also has extensive drafting experience, including motions to dismiss, pre- and post-trial briefing, and a variety of procedural and discovery-related papers.

Bill concentrates his pro bono practice on assisting veterans. At his previous firm, Bill served on a planning committee that, in partnership with major firm clients, successfully designed and implemented a regular walk-in clinic to assist veterans with disability-related matters.

Bill graduated first in his class from Temple University – Beasley School of Law and served as managing editor of the Temple Law Review.

Representative Cases
  • Successfully defended a major telecommunications firm at trial involving allegations of breaches of fiduciary duty and a statutory appraisal petition arising out of a multi-billion-dollar merger.
  • Secured post-trial judgment in favor of a Fortune 100 corporation, defeating a stockholder demand for books and records under Delaware law.
  • Secured post-trial judgment in favor of the former officers and stockholders of an industrial gas company in a breach of contract and securities fraud action arising out of a nine-figure merger.
