Won an appellate victory for an Illinois hospital and nursing staff.

WTO lawyers won affirmation of a 2015 trial victory obtained for our client, an Illinois hospital and its nursing staff. At issue were allegations that nurses failed to convey vital information to a pediatrician, thus allowing a newborn to be discharged from the hospital too soon. The plaintiffs further alleged that, post-discharge, the nursing staff failed to refer the parents of the newborn back to the pediatrician or the emergency department. The infant later developed sepsis, meningitis, and catastrophic brain damage, which the plaintiffs alleged could have been avoided. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claimed $31 million in damages. WTO lawyers won that trial with a unanimous jury verdict for our clients.
