Marisa Shearer represents clients in complex civil litigation. She defends companies in high-stakes toxic tort, product liability, and personal injury lawsuits nationwide, as well as appeals. Marisa has valuable experience in handling critical motions, pleadings, and discovery.
Before joining WTO, Marisa served as a judicial intern in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Marisa worked as a summer law clerk at WTO and at a major telecommunications company. She also represented detainees in an immigration law clinic while in law school. Through these opportunities, she developed experience researching a wide range of legal issues, working closely with clients, and drafting contracts, amendments, and discovery documents.

Defeated a motion for preliminary injunction in a stray voltage case in New York where the plaintiffs were asking the court to order a multimillion-dollar rebuild of an electrical distribution line and issue unprecedented rules about the delivery of electrical power.
Won walk-away dismissal with no money paid for a national cosmetics company in a talc case with 78 defendants in Denver District Court. The plaintiff claimed that asbestos-contaminated talc in the client's products caused his mesothelioma.
Representing national asbestos litigation clients in mesothelioma cases, including drafting Daubert motions and motions in limine.
Handling behind-the-scenes case management for 80+ cases scheduled for trial for national asbestos litigation client in mesothelioma and lung cancer cases.
Represented a cab company that ceased operations in a series of personal injury cases and assisted with case mediations.
Represented oil and gas companies in high-exposure cases arising from well-site and other industry-related accidents resulting in catastrophic injury and death.
