In 2023, WTO’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee hosted meaningful events, including “Courage to Be Seen,” by Sherin Sakr, the Chief Legal Officer of WellBiz Brands, Inc.

Sherin presented to in-house counsel, law students, and lawyers and staff at WTO. Her talk explored the adversity she faced as an “other” in Egypt, Puerto Rico, Germany, and the U.S.—and how she has learned to show up authentically and now helps others do the same.

For WTO team member Colleen Egan, hearing Sherin’s story was “life changing.” “I was stunned by the prejudices and implicit bias she overcame. I thought, ‘If she could own who she was, then the rest of us can do more to own who we are.’ Her talk made me very proud to be at WTO.”
