Agenda

1:00 - 2:15 PM: And the Verdict Is . . . ?
COVID radically upended the way courts conduct business. This panel of federal and state judges and accomplished trial lawyers will discuss recent courtroom successes and frustrations, offer tips on how litigators and trial lawyers can be the best possible advocates in the Zoom age, and share their predictions for what to expect next.

Panelists

  • The Hon. N. Reid Neureiter, U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado
  • The Hon. Don Jesse Toussaint, Arapahoe County District Court
  • CiCi Cheng, Partner, Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP

Moderated by Joel Neckers, Partner, Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP

2:30 - 3:45 PM: What Clients Want Now: Senior In-House Counsel Define Post-COVID Client Service Expectations
Since the start of the pandemic, much has been written about how outside counsel must be proactive, communicative, curious, and anticipate clients’ needs. Senior in-house counsel will share how lawyers have stood out in those areas and what they expect of outside counsel as industries shift into the next stage of living with COVID-19.

Panelists

  • Shea Kauffman, Deputy General Counsel, Civitas Resources, Inc.
  • Sherin Sakr, General Counsel, WellBiz Brands, Inc.
  • Tim Walker, Vice President, Associate General Counsel – Litigation and Employment, Vail Resorts

Moderated by Juan Ramirez, Partner, Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP

4:00 - 5:15 PM: A Pandemic, Redistricting, and an Election Year
In 2021, a team including the former state solicitors general of Colorado and Wisconsin and the former general counsel to Denver Public Schools collaborated to successfully represent the Colorado Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission in fast-paced hearings before the Colorado Supreme Court. Hear how they adjusted to myriad COVID challenges, including a truncated timeline, difficulties meeting people across the state during a COVID surge, the changes COVID imposed on advocacy in the state’s highest court, and what last year’s redistricting decisions may mean for this year’s elections—in Colorado and across the nation.

Panelists

  • Jerome DeHerrera, Partner, Achieve Law Group
  • Misha Tseytlin, Partner, Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP
  • Frederick Yarger, Partner, Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP

Moderated by Meghan Berglind, Of Counsel, Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP
