Successfully defended Conoco against claims that it contaminated city drinking water

The Colorado town of Castle Rock claimed that a leaking Conoco service station storage tank had contaminated the local drinking water.  Hugh Gottschalk discovered a city-owned tank that had also leaked within the relevant period. Using the testimony of a forensic hydrogeologist, he persuaded the local jury that the city's tank had likely caused the contamination. Following a six-week trial, the jury returned a defense verdict for Conoco.
