Malcolm Wheeler Named to Benchmark Litigation
Top 100 Trial Lawyers in America

Date: 08.19.15

DENVER: Benchmark Litigation has named Malcolm Wheeler to the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in America for the second consecutive year. Wheeler is a founding partner of Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell and maintains an active practice as senior of counsel with the firm. He is recognized for general commercial and product liability litigation.

Benchmark Litigation describes the Top 100 as “an elite group of individuals who have been nominated . . . on the strength of historical and unwavering peer and client review, as well as proven achievements.” Top 100 lawyers are not nominated by their firms and may not self-nominate. Instead, they are identified based on feedback from clients and peers in the industry.

“Mal has long set the standard to which we all hold ourselves at WTO,” said Chairman Michael O’Donnell. “The ‘Wheeler Way’ is a real, tangible guiding light for achieving excellence in our profession. This honor is very well deserved.”

Though Wheeler retired from the partnership in 2012, he is closely involved in some of the firm’s highest priority cases. He also remains a frequent contributor on legal and civic matters, including mentorship of younger lawyers and at-risk public school students.

Wheeler is especially well known for his defense of Ford in its criminal lawsuit involving the Pinto automobile, his U.S. Supreme Court victory for Honda in the precedent-setting “no-airbag” case, and his numerous successes for clients in extremely high-exposure punitive damages cases. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers, a two-time BTI Consulting Client Service All-Star, and is consistently included in The International Who’s Who of Product Liability Defense Lawyers and Chambers USA
