Won a groundbreaking appeal vacating a $150 million arbitration award.

WTO lawyers won the appeal of a $150 million arbitration award against our client, the majority owner of a leading Colorado marijuana company. The arbitration award arose out of a complex partnership dispute between the co-owners of the company. After the arbitrator entered a $150 million award against WTO’s client, WTO sought to vacate the underlying award and secured a groundbreaking victory—despite the extremely narrow grounds and high standard of review in overturning a commercial arbitration award. Thanks to WTO’s extraordinary efforts, the court held that the arbitrator below improperly exercised jurisdiction over our client and had shown “evident partiality” throughout the arbitration.
