Biography

Iva Velickovic represents clients facing complex commercial claims and has significant class action experience. Prior to joining WTO, Iva served as a law clerk to the Hon. Janet C. Hall of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, and as a Skadden Fellow at the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network.

Cases

  • Representing a health insurance company in an FLSA wage-and-hour class action. Role has included leading decertification briefing and taking and defending depositions. .
  • Drafted portions of a motion to dismiss as part of the WTO team representing Whirlpool in industry-wide consumer class action litigation alleging tens of millions of gas cooking products emit harmful pollutants in homes.
  • Led dispositive-motions briefing as a member of a team representing a leading appliance manufacturer in a class action involving product defect claims.
  • Maintains an active pro bono immigration practice, including petitions for review to the Tenth Circuit, appellate amicus briefs, and individual representation before state and immigration courts.
  • Obtained decertification of an FLSA conditional collective that had been certified before WTO took over the case. After the decertification decision was issued, lawyers for the plaintiffs conceded that another pending nationwide case—which WTO also was defending—should be decertified as well.
