Won summary judgment for an oil and gas company in a commercial lawsuit brought by Boulder County involving $900 million of the client's assets.
WTO lawyers won a victory for Crestone Peak Resources in a lawsuit brought by Boulder County that challenged several of the company’s strategic oil and gas leases, and would have impacted Crestone’s $900 million investment in the DJ Basin. WTO won summary judgment on the claims related to two of the leases, and Boulder County voluntarily dismissed all remaining claims involving the other leases. Along with the client and co-counsel Jost Energy Law, WTO developed the arguments that the court reused verbatim when issuing its orders. This victory cleared an important hurdle to significant future development.
