WTO and "Law School Yes We Can!" Continue Scholarship for Bar Exam Preparation

In 2025, Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell and Law School Yes We Can! launched a scholarship—named WTO Impact Scholarship—to fund bar exam preparation for qualified applicants.

The idea behind the annual scholarship started with WTO Associate Celyn Giefer and WTO Partner Melissa Romero, who are both dedicated to helping remove financial barriers for the next generation of lawyers.  

“We recognized a lack of support for students taking the bar exam. This can be a forgotten hurdle and barrier for many students. The bar is expensive, and the future hinges on it. Passing it can bring generational change,” Celyn said. “The WTO Impact Scholarship reinforces WTO’s values of supporting our community through philanthropy, mentorships, and advocacy.”

The scholarship, funded by WTO, provides $3,500 to one recent or soon-to-be law school graduate. The scholarship is designed to alleviate the costs associated with bar exam fees, preparation courses, and related expenses such as exam prep materials. The scholarship aims to support individuals who demonstrate a commitment to excellence, integrity, fairness, inclusion, and volunteer service in the legal profession.

LSYWC is committed to empowering the next generation of legal professionals and ensuring that all voices are represented in the legal field. Fellows of the program who apply for the scholarship will be asked to submit a 250-word essay detailing how the scholarship will impact them as they prepare for the bar exam.
